Benefiting From The CPM CTR Ad Models

Many times I have seen people saying that, Hey CTR models is best for conversion based advertising, & CPM is for BRANDING based advertising.

Sorry, I just don’t agree, It could be vice-versa.

Lets consider this scenario

Here as you can see the avg cost for each click was 0.43$, 7 clicks & boom nearly 31,000 Impressions. Now if you see my average cost for 1000 impressions i.e. CPM is 0.10$.

Now what if you want to pay less & get almost the same results?

Simple, Just change your AD to CPM method, Pay a little less than your current AVG- CPM lets say you set it to 0.05$ ,Wait for a day or so, Now what your really need to do is keep a tab on your CPM ads, See if  your bid is still eligible for impressions, If no then increase the bid by CPM BID AVG of, {(your current bid+ Your AVG CPM)/2}

Wait for a day check if you start receiving impressions, If yes, now check is the average CTR that you used to receive earlier is all the same as your current CTR? If the CTR is almost equal or greater than you previous ad , Congratulations!! You just saved some money, How ever if the CTR is poor as compared to your previous ads than you need  to rollback to your previous CTR based ad model immediately….

Similarly if let’s say you’re paying on CPM basis, You want maximum impressions, you pay out 1$ for each 1000 impressions, now what you can do is check your current CTR, now with the help of your current CTR you can identify your current CPC. the formula is lets say you bought 50,000 impressions, so your total cost is now 50$, now you are aware that your current CTR is lets say 1%, so we know that you receive lets say about 500 clicks. So your average CPC is now 0.10$. Now waht you can try doing is change your campaigns to CPC based models, now start paying 0.05$ for your clicks. Wait for a day check if your ads are running after lowering down the bids? If yes than great keep a tab on your impressions, check if your ads do get the same exposure in terms of impressions, if the impression count is the same or higher, Congratulations, you just saved upon your CPM, you are paying exactly the half & you have doubled your ROI.

The idea is just to keep a a track on ads & keep on optimizing different ad models, unless you get the maximum of CTR/Impressions & Minimum CPM.

If i am not wrong ,Guru’s of internet marketing are calling Social Media Marketing the next big thing on the internet, A lot of people on the internet are are coming up with research papers, reports &amp other proofs to prove how Social Media Marketing is cost efficient,easy &amp effective way of marketing, So i also decided to write a little article on Social Media Marketing.

What is Social Media Marketing?

Social media marketing is an engagement with online communities to generate exposure, opportunity and sales. The number-one advantage is generating exposure for the business, followed by increasing traffic and building new business partnerships.

This is the defination from wikipedia. Very true, Social media marketing is all about establishing your self as a brand amongst the online communities.

Social Media &amp SEM

SEM is the process of increasing number of targeted visitors to your website by means of paid search listings or organic seo.

Social Media is a process of converting the targeted visitors coming to your website in to your subscribers(BLOG FEEDS) ,fans(Facebook Pals,Facebook Community members,youtube videos) ,followers(twitter followers), Providing them some or the other way to stay updated about your product or website.it helps you to get introduced to new targeted customers through word of mouth publicity &  viral marketing elements of social media marketing. Another advantage of social media is that you can influence the purchase decisions of your target audience,followers,subscriber by establishing your self as a brand in front of them. By showing that you as a brand do value your customer’s money,time & resources ,& you are always there to help your customers if they have any troubles with your products.

SEM & SM M go hand to hand, they are basically two sides of the internet marketing coin.

SEM willl always help you in developement of your social media strategies & SM M will always be helpful in your Search engine marketing strategies. SEM is basicaly dependent on PPC & Back Links. So when you start combining your Social media tactics with your SEM tactics, you staet gaining backlinks by creating a buzz about your product in the user community,Also when you are running SEM campaigns you can start converting your visitors in to FANS/SUBSCRIBERS/FOLLOWERS. & once your visitors become your follower you are bound to get the unfair advantage of social media marketing elements(word of mouth publicity &  viral marketing).

So basically according to me it is a good idea to mixup your SEM strategies with Socail Media Marketing.

Some of the key factors of social media marketing are:

  • Creating a blog for your business & keep on updating it regularly with use full content so that you can get good number of rss subscribers.
  • Publishing your news releases in the blogger world, creating a buzz about your product in the blogger world.(you can do this by buying paid blog posts on popular blogs)
  • By creating twitter profile so that people can follow you on twitter
  • Bookmarking your blogs on social bookmarking sites like digg & then by making shouts to spread the word.
  • creating facebook,orkut,myspace profiles so that people can stay in touch with you.
  • paid advertising on social networking sites like orkut,facebook,myspace,hП etc…
  • taking care of all negative comments about you & your product on internet. Remember even a single negative comment can influence your potential customer′s purchase decision.
  • creating videos & submitting them to popular sites like youtube,metacafe etc…, this does help creating a buzz about your product.

Keyword research should be the first step in any process that involves optimizing and marketing your website through the search engines. I would say keyword reearch is the most important part of the process, yet often one that is glossed over as either largely unimportant, or not important enough to spend enough time doing effectively.

Today online marketers are usually making 2 mistakes

1.They do not consider keyword research important so they just simply do not research for the best keywords that people are looking for.

2.They do a very little keyword research & target wrong or you can broad keywords for their webpages.

How to gather keywords for your project?

  1. Keyword tags on competitors’ websites
  2. Related search suggestions on large search engines (such as Ask or Yahoo!)

  • Google AdWords Keyword Suggestion Tool – This is the best keyword research tool available in the industry. Google provides all the useful data like average bid values for the keywords,average monthly search volumes & much more. The most important part is the data is trustworthy since its coming out of google’s own platform
  • SEO Book Keyword Suggestion Tool – This tool is based upon wordtracker engine, Infact it uses wordtracker data but displays it in a much user friendly format.
  • Wordtracker Free Keywords – Wordtracker has two tools. One is for free users & the other one is for paid users.
  • Google Suggest Tool – shows frequently search for phrases starting with the words and letters in your query.
  • Keyword Discovery – free keyword tool from Trellian. Trellian also has a more advanced paid version of Keyword Discovery.
  • Microsoft Keyword Forecast – shows predicted Microsoft search impression count and historical trends.
  • Wordze – nice for generating decently large keyword lists quickly and inserting them into paid search campaigns.
  • Yahoo! Search Marketing – Yahoo! has a keyword research tool inside their platform. It is really bad marketing of them to only have the new tool accessible inside their platform, while neglecting their old keyword tool.
